EFCC agents in Kaduna are attacked by alleged vote buyers
After attempting to apprehend a suspected vote buying, EFCC agents who were on election monitoring duty in Kaduna State on Saturday were attacked at School Road, Unguwan Rimi Kaduna State.
The squad had deployed to the area to arrest the suspect after receiving information about the suspected actions of a man named Kabir Musa, who was reportedly seen on camera persuading eligible voters by transferring money into their accounts as they cast their ballots.
Musa, however, got disorderly and yelled as soon as he was approached by the agents, drawing the attention of his syndicate colleagues who attacked the investigators with a variety of weapons, injuring some of them in the process. It took tremendous control on the part of the operatives to disregard the unprovoked attack but insist on taking the guy into custody.
When the crew left with the suspect, their car was attacked with rocks and other deadly items, damaging the windscreen and injuring three operators to varied degrees.

As the suspect is being held in jail pending the outcome of the inquiry, the injured EFCC agents are now getting medical care at the Kaduna Zonal Command Medical Centre.
As you may remember, EFCC teams suffered similar attacks during the Presidential and National Assembly Elections, severely damaging some of the Commission’s cars.
In response to the event, Abdulrasheed Bawa, Executive Chairman of the Commission, praised the Operatives for showing outstanding control in the face of severe provocation.
Nonetheless, he urged the general public to stop criticising Commission officers since such behaviour would no longer be accepted.
