Alhaji Usman Abubakar and the Young Alhaji Foundation have been charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in front of Judge Mojisola Dada of the Special Offenses Court in Ikeja, Lagos State.
Five counts against the defendants are reportedly related to stealing N950 million and obtaining money under false pretences.
Sometime around September 2022, Abubakar, the Foundation, and Dr. Abu Omer Fawzi (who is still at large) hatched a plan to steal N950,000,000 from Ano Farms Limited.
They allegedly collected money pretending to have the identical amount in dollars.

On Wednesday, when the accusations were read in court, Abubakar entered a “not guilty” plea.
The prosecution requested a trial date from the court so that it could call witnesses and present pertinent evidence.
Olatubosun Olanipekun, SAN, the defendants’ attorney, begged that Abubakar be held in EFCC custody until the bail application hearing.
However, the court rejected the attempt to submit an oral bail application since the trial judge said that “this court is a court of records.”
The bail application hearing was postponed to March 1, 2023, and the defendant was ordered to stay with the commission by Justice Dada.
