The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Wale Edu, reassured the public that ongoing negotiations between organised labour and the Tripartite Committee regarding the new minimum wage for workers in the country are progressing well, emphasising that there is no need for concern.

Following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Edun and his counterpart, Atiku Bagudu, discussed the matter further, showing a commitment to addressing the issue at hand.

The recent meeting with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) delegation, led by Managing Director Makhtar Diop, highlighted the importance of these discussions, with key figures such as the Chief of Staff, Minister of Information, FIRS Chairman, and the President’s Special Adviser also present.

With a deadline set by the President for the finance minister to present figures to the organised labour, the commitment to finding a resolution that satisfies all parties involved is evident.

The Minister’s statement that there is no cause for alarm regarding the new minimum wage template reflects a positive outlook on the progress being made as negotiations continue between the government and organised labour.
