Edo police apprehend a woman who bought goods with counterfeit naira notes. Discover the details of the arrest and investigation.

Edo State Police Command operatives have apprehended a woman for allegedly using counterfeit naira notes to make purchases from traders, as reported.

The arrest took place at the Oregbeni market in Ikpoba Hill, located in the Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo State over the weekend, according to sources.

Witnesses mentioned that the woman, said to be in her thirties, had already acquired goods amounting to over N200,000 using fake N1000 notes before being caught.

A trader grew suspicious of the currency and upon closer inspection realized it was counterfeit, prompting her to alert others.

Fellow traders confirmed the money was indeed fake and followed the suspect as she moved from one shop to another, unknowingly.

The suspect was eventually led into a shop under false pretenses, where the police were waiting to apprehend her with the counterfeit notes.

The Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Command, Chidi Nwabuzor, mentioned that he had not yet received a briefing on the incident when reached for comment.
