Charles Idahosa, a former Commissioner for Information in Edo State, revealed that Governor Godwin Obaseki’s lack of respect for leaders in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was the reason for his defection from PDP to APC.

“I challenged former governor Adams Oshomhole, the APC national chairman at the time, with whom I had collaborated in a number of ways before to the 2016 governorship contest.

Upon witnessing Obaseki’s mistreatment, my allies and I made the decision to accompany him to the PDP, where he eventually won a ticket and made a reappearance as governor.

Sadly, he wasn’t fair to the individuals and party leaders who gave him support in getting to power when he first arrived.

Idahosa emphasized his pivotal role in Obaseki’s reelection bid and victory in the 2020 governorship election.

He cited his opposition to the mistreatment of Obaseki by APC leaders as a driving force behind his decision to switch parties.

Idahosa expressed disappointment in Obaseki’s treatment of those who supported him and criticized the lack of development in the state over the past seven years.
