Philip Shaibu, the deputy governor of Edo State and a gubernatorial aspirant for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had his campaign vehicle attacked by armed men believed to be hoodlums in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area.
The incident occurred on Sunday night following a meeting of Shaibu’s supporters in Illeh, Ward 10, in preparation for the upcoming governorship elections on September 21.
Otoide Abas, the coordinator of Shaibu’s campaign in the area, confirmed the incident and mentioned that the police have recovered the vandalized vehicle.
Abas explained that after the meeting, they were on their way to meet other supporters in Ekpoma when a group of boys opened fire and vandalized the vehicle.
The police retrieved the vehicle that same night, and Abas was instructed to report to the police station.
