The First Lady of Edo State, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, refutes allegations that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu intends to utilize “federal might” in the upcoming gubernatorial election to favor the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mrs. Obaseki stressed in a recent interview that President Tinubu is devoted to maintaining democratic values.
Both Tinubu and former President Muhammadu Buhari were commended for their non-interference in electoral outcomes. The speaker also acknowledged that while Buhari utilized federal power, it was solely to safeguard voters rather than tampering with the election results.

Expressing confidence in President Tinubu’s ability to uphold Edo State’s progress under Governor Godwin Obaseki, Mrs. Obaseki cited his impressive track record as a reformer during his time serving as the governor of Lagos State.
Counterproductive would be disrupting the progress of Edo’s development, which has achieved international recognition according to her statement.
Her concluding remark expressed hope for Nigeria’s future, as she noted that if other governors followed in the footsteps of Edo and Lagos states by achieving similar progress, then there could be an overall development across the country.
