Edo gubernatorial candidate Akpata emphasizes his commitment to serving the people of Edo State, stating that he is answerable only to them and not to any political godfather.

Olumide Akpata, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for Edo State’s governorship election on September 21st, 2024 asserts that if elected as a Governor he would not succumb to any political patron or influencer.

On Thursday’s Politics Today programme on Channels Television, he stated that he is solely accountable to the people of his state.

The Labour Party government can be trusted by the Edo people due to our accountability towards them, among other reasons.

He exclaimed, “There are no strings attached to me. I am accountable to neither a godfather nor any political benefactor.”

According to OBASANJONEWS, the upcoming gubernatorial race in the state features prominent candidates such as Akpata, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Monday Okpebholo of All Progressives Congress (APC).

The ex-President of the Nigerian Bar Association stated that he is not accountable to any political bigwig, unlike his counterparts who are affiliated with past or present governors.

The LP candidate clarified that he is not receiving funding from Governor Godwin Obaseki, whose preferred candidate for the election is Ighodalo of the PDP.

At first, I was accused of being Governor Obaseki’s agent but we were able to disprove that. Now, they are claiming that the APC is sponsoring me which I find absurdly nonsensical and baseless conspiracy theorizing.
