Ahead of the upcoming governorship primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Edo State governorship election, four aspirants who were screened out by the committee led by Hon. Julius Ihonvbere have expressed their acceptance of the screening outcome.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the off-cycle governorship election in Edo State for September 21, 2024.

The committee was established by the party to screen and reduce the number of aspirants, ensuring a smooth primary election process. The aspirants who accepted the outcome are Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe, Prince Kassim Afegbua, Mrs. Victoria Amu, and Hon. Victor Otaigbe Eboigbe.

They emphasized that no individual is greater than the party and that they respect and abide by the decisions of the committee. They expressed gratitude for the support they received and assured their supporters that their efforts would be rewarded in due time.

Amu, who expressed her commitment to the party’s decision, emphasized the significance of unity and cohesion within the party.

She made it clear that while she is enthusiastic about the opportunity to serve as the governor of Edo State, she prioritizes the supremacy of the APC.

The collective goals of the party and the well-being of the people of Edo State hold utmost importance to her, and she fully aligns with the party’s vision and principles.

Afegbua, who was excluded from the primary, gracefully accepted the party’s decision, recognizing that politics should not be a matter of life or death.
