Edo Govt Postpones School Resumption Amid Fuel Price Hike
The Edo government has postponed school resumption until further notice, citing challenges brought on by the recent fuel price hike.
Due to the recent increase in fuel prices, public and private schools across Edo State will remain closed until further notice as decided by the government.
On Saturday, September 7th of the year 2024 in Benin, Ojo Akin-Longe who is the Permanent Secretary at Edo State Ministry of Education made an announcement through a statement.
The start of the school year, originally planned for September 9th, 2024 has been postponed without a defined timeline due to challenges faced by the state arising from increased fuel costs.

According to Akin-Longe, “Due to the economic challenges faced by parents and guardians as a result of increased fuel costs, the Edo State Government has decided to postpone the resumption of all schools which was originally scheduled for Monday, September 9th, 2024 until further notice.”
During this time of uncertainty, the government urged parents and caregivers to stay alert and keep a close eye on their children.
The announcement sheds light on the persistent challenges that numerous Nigerians are encountering as a result of the abrupt surge in fuel costs, arousing widespread apprehension throughout the nation.
