The All Progressives Congress, APC, chapter in Edo State has experienced a blow as a result of Francis Inegbeneki, the vice chairman of Edo Central, quitting the party.

In a June 6, 2024, letter addressed to the chairman of Ward 9, Opoji in the Esan Central Local Government Area, Inegbeneki stated that several recent events in his local government area did not align well with his basic political beliefs.

Inegbeneki said that his departure from the APC was in the best interests of his Edo Central Senatorial District, stating that the party needed to be repositioned in the state.

In the letter, it is said that every man must eventually make some difficult choices that are both in his own best interests and the interests of his people as a whole. This is one of those occasions.

“But some recent changes inside the party in my LGA and State go against my fundamental beliefs and ideals. This has forced me to consider carefully my political prospects in Edo State and make some decisions about the future.

“I would want to officially notify you of my decision to resign from both my position as State Vice Chairman and my membership in the All Progressives Congress (APC), after consulting with my family, friends, and political acquaintances as appropriate. Although it is a difficult choice, it is the best one for the wonderful people living in my senatorial district.

“I would like to express my gratitude to the party for providing me with the platform that allowed me to be chosen as the state vice chairman of the party. To reposition the party in Edo State, however, a lot more work needs to be done.
