Edo Governorship: PDP Urges Voters to Reject Incompetent Candidates
PDP urges Edo voters to reject incompetent candidates in the upcoming governorship election, emphasizing the need for qualified leadership.
With the Edo State governorship election scheduled for September 21, 2024 fast approaching, the Asue-Ogie Campaign Management Council urges citizens to refrain from jeopardizing their future by supporting an unqualified contender.
According to OBASANJONEWS, the council issued this plea during a press conference held in Benin City.
Speaking to journalists, Olu Martins – the deputy director-general of the council responsible for media, responded to allegations made by Senator Adams Oshiomhole. The senator claimed that a woman had been caught with multiple packs of Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) in Ovia Federal Constituency.

He accused Oshiomhole of issuing a challenge to Governor Godwin Obaseki and the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo, at an APC governorship rally. According to him, Oshiomhole warned them against any attempt to rig the election.
He cautioned the people of Edo against reenacting their previous voting behavior which resulted in former President Goodluck Jonathan’s loss to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari. Furthermore, he acknowledged that Barrister Asue Ighodalo is the sole candidate capable of upholding and building on Governor Obaseki’s accomplishments.
He stated that the governorship election is rapidly approaching and urged political parties to disclose what they are offering.
As of today, we are cautioning the people of Edo to avoid repeating past errors in judgement. In hindsight, some among us eagerly endorsed Buhari after deeming Jonathan unsuitable – a mistake we must not repeat.
He stated that political parties should enable the candidates competing in this election to express their own views, so they can be held accountable tomorrow.
Martins advised the Edo people to thoroughly assess the past records of political parties and their contestants prior to voting in the gubernatorial race.
Edo people are advised to carefully assess Asue Ighodalo and Monday Okpebholo as potential candidates.
In this election, it is the responsibility of Edo people to declare that you will not achieve your aim.
He declared, “Edo State is our shared responsibility, both for those residing within and outside its borders. Hence, I implore my siblings to reject mediocrity in favor of merit.”
