Edo Gov Obaseki Claims They’re Too Smart for Wike’s Tricks
Edo Governor Obaseki declares that his team is too smart for Wike’s games as the election approaches. Discover his insights on the political landscape.
Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has boldly stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in this Saturday’s crucial governorship race is not in danger due to his political battle with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.
In a contentious interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Obaseki rejected Wike’s influence, saying that Edo people are too smart to be influenced by outsiders when casting their ballot.
With Wike’s assistance, Obaseki defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s Adams Oshiomhole in a landslide in 2020. However, Obaseki and his former ally are currently embroiled in a political dispute.
Since then, Wike has declined to support Obaseki’s nominee in the next election, Asue Ighodalo, but the governor of Edo state seems unmoved.

Wike came to my aid, but let me clarify: Edo people are not idiots. Obaseki declared resolutely, “They don’t need outsiders telling them who to vote for.
He emphasized that Edo voters are knowledgeable and equipped to make choices that will protect the future of their state.
He went on to say, “Edo people know what they want, and they will decide without interference,” brushing off Wike’s lack of endorsement.
Obaseki dismissed the criticisms, claiming that some politicians detest him because he has been using public funds to further the interests of the people rather than their own agendas.
Obaseki has engaged in a good number of political skirmishes with well-known figures, including Oshiomhole and his estranged deputy Philip Shaibu.
