Former Godwin Obaseki of Edo State begins a medical leave overseas, with arrangements in place for continued governance during his absence.
Godwin Obaseki, the recently concluded governor of Edo State, has started what he calls a post-tenure vacation.
Obaseki mentioned that the vacation would allow him to “relax and have comprehensive medical examinations.”
This information was revealed on Wednesday through a statement by Crusoe Osagie, the spokesperson for the former governor.
Osagie mentioned that Obaseki “once again expressed his gratitude to God Almighty and the people of Edo State and Nigeria for the opportunity to serve.”
He encouraged all Edo individuals, whether residing locally or abroad, to remain hopeful and pray for the peace, progress, and prosperity of our state and Nigeria.
After completing his two-term tenure of eight years, Obaseki handed over to Monday Okpebholo on November 11.
Okpebholo, having triumphed over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Asue Ighodalo and Olumide Akpata from the Labour Party, was sworn in as the new governor of Edo State on Tuesday.
