Edo Election: Mercy Johnson Husband Okojie Escapes Assassination
Mercy Johnson’s husband, Okojie, reportedly escapes an assassination attempt during the Edo election period. Discover the details of this alarming incident.
Prince Henry Odianosen Okojie, a federal member for Edo State’s Esan North-East/Esan South-East Federal Constituency, is said to have escaped an attempted assassination.
At his Uromi home on Friday morning, Okojie, the spouse of Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson, was allegedly attacked by armed men who were perhaps political goons.
Michael Ihaza, Okojie’s media assistant, verified the news in a statement.
The perpetrators broke into the lawmaker’s home using a Lexus GX 470 registered in Rivers State with the license plate PHC 253 FF, according to the statement.

The planned murder “was unsuccessful due to the intervention of security personnel attached to the lawmaker,” the statement reads.
“The two armed criminals, posing as police officials, broke into Hon. Okojie’s home, claimed to be there by appointment, and then made their way to the sitting room.
Two of the armed thugs escaped, leaving behind the driver and another, who are being questioned by officers from the Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force, Uromi, after the legislator’s security detail intervened.
“Confessional statements from the suspects thus far have stated that People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leaders in Esan North East Local Government Area sent them on the mission,” the statement continued.
