Edo State Deputy Governor assures there’s no rift with Okpebholo, emphasizing unity and collaboration for the state’s progress.
The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Dennis Idahosa, has referred to the state’s Governor, Monday Okpebholo, as his “brother,” dismissing any expectations of a future rift between them.
He stated this during his appearance on Channels Television’s flagship program, Sunrise Daily, on Wednesday.
He stated, “By the grace of God Almighty, I assure you there will be no misunderstandings between my principal and me.”
“My purpose is to serve the good people of Edo State, not cater to his personal interests.”
If personal interests are going to take precedence over the interests of the people of Edo, then I don’t believe I’m fit for this position.
“Our primary objective is to prioritize the Edo people.”
This pertains to the troubled relationship between former governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Phillip Shuaibu.

Shuaibu mentioned on Sunrise Daily that he and Obaseki, who initially had a good relationship at the start of their tenure, experienced a falling out when Shuaibu revealed his aspiration to become the next governor.
Obaseki subsequently advocated for his impeachment and warned of eliminating him if he ever decided to run.
Idahosa stated the true intention of himself and Governor Okpebholo.
“Our purpose here is to contribute to the advancement of both the state and its people through human capital development.”
“For me, the role of Deputy Governor is to support and enhance the governor’s plans and visions.”
“To assist and guarantee that the majority of our campaign promises are achieved.”
