The political crisis in Rivers State seems to be coming to an end as Edison Ehie, the member representing Ahoada East Constituency II at the Rivers State House of Assembly, has decided to withdraw his contempt proceedings suit against 25 of the 27 defected lawmakers.
Last December, Ehie, who is a close ally of the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, declared the seats of the lawmakers vacant after they defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). However, following a peace deal between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, Ehie resigned from his position in the House of Assembly and is now discontinuing his suit against the 25 lawmakers.
