The ECOWAS Defense Chief is advocating for the restoration of constitutional order in Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, emphasizing the need for stability and democratic governance in these countries.

It is imperative for us to have their return, states General Christopher Musa, in order to counteract the intensifying insecurity plaguing the area, particularly insurgency.

On Friday, the Economic Community of West Africa States’ Chiefs of Defence Staff urged for Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso to be reintegrated back into the regional bloc.

During a visit to the National Counter Terrorism Centre in Abuja, General Christopher Musa, Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff and Chairman of the ECOWAS Committee of Chiefs of Defence Staff stressed that repatriating forces is essential for combating escalating insecurity in the region – particularly insurgent activity.

General Musa revealed that the Ecowas Chiefs of Defence Staff are currently making efforts to bring back the three countries and he emphasized once more on the importance of everyone working together in order to control insecurity within West Africa.

Major General Adamu Laka, the host of the Ecowas Chiefs of Defence Staff at the National Coordinator Counter-terrorism Centre emphasizes that cooperation among West African nations is imperative in defeating terrorism.

As a means of combating terrorism, General Laka emphasized the importance of countries within the region sharing their experiences.
