The transfer value of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen surpasses that of every other member of the national team, making him worth a fourth of the Super Eagles’ whole roster.
The Super Eagles are ranked 10th in the world and as the most valuable squad in Africa in terms of money.
According to football news, trade rumours, and statistics site Transfermarkt, the three-time African champions are valued at €451.60 million, with Osimhen making up 26% of the Eagles’ overall roster at €120 million.
The French national team and England’s Three Lions are the only teams valued at more than €1 billion.
England (€1.37bn), France (€1.05bn), Portugal (€990m), Brazil (€969m), Spain (€811m), Argentina (€797.50m), Germany (€789.50m), Italy (€636.50bn), and The Netherlands (€519m) rank ahead of the Eagles in the world’s top 10 most valuable national teams.
Nigeria’s all-star squad, which is primarily composed of athletes that play in the top European leagues, contributed to the rating and the Eagles’ overall valuation.
Ivory Coast is ranked third in Africa with a valuation of €315.08m, behind Morocco, who is still ranked second with €326.05m. The top five most valued sides in the continent are completed by Senegal, at €257 million, and Algeria, at €207 million.
Other pricey players are forward Ademola Lookman of Atalanta and attacker Taiwo Awoniyi of Nottingham Forest, who are considered to be worth €30 million apiece, making them the joint third most expensive Eagles.
Wilfred Ndidi of Leicester City is valued at €25 million, while Alex Iwobi of Fulham is valued at €28 million.
Inverse Along with Ndidi, AC Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze and Nice’s Terem Moffi are both valued at €25 million, making the three of them the fifth-most expensive Eagles players.
Gift Orban of Gent is valued at €20 million, while Kelechi Iheanacho of €18 million rounds off the list of the top 10 most valuable players in Nigeria.
With a valuation of €120 million, Osimhen is also the most expensive player in Africa. He is ranked fifth in the world’s top 10 most expensive players, tied with Bukayo Saka; the only players with higher values are Erling Haaland (€180 million), Vinicius Jr. (€150 million), Jude Bellingham (€150 million), and Kylian Mbappe (€180 million).
At €100 million or more, Osimhen is the only player from Africa, greatly above the value of the next two most expensive players on the continent, Achraf Hakimi of Morocco and Mohamed Salah of Egypt, who are both rated at €65 million.
The third most expensive players are Boniface, forward Serhou Guirassy of Guinea, defender Edmond Tapsoba of Burkina Faso, midfielder Mohammed Kudus of Ghana, and internationals Andre Onana and Frank Anguissa of Cameroon, all of whom have a transfer value of €40 million.
The Eagles and the Ivory Coast are the only nations to generate three or more players in the Top 20, with Nigeria being the only nation with two players in the Top 10 most expensive players in Africa list.
