The Senators took some time during the event, which was well-attended by lawmakers, to talk about their experiences in the 9th National Assembly.
The Senate’s farewell meeting on Saturday was a poignant occasion for the legislators.
The Senators spoke in turn about their experiences in the 9th National Assembly at the event, which was well-attended by lawmakers.
The outgoing Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Vice President Kashim Shettima of Borno Central, First Lady Remi Tinubu of Nigeria, and other lawmakers were present.

Shettima urged the new senators in his farewell speech to work for Nigeria’s improvement as the lawmakers chose their leaders.
The stability of this nation is superior to the stability of our pockets, I will say in parting to my new colleagues. Let’s vote on Tuesday with wisdom and for the good of Nigeria, the vice president urged.
The First Lady, who admitted that she thought about giving up politics, gave God credit for her continued service in the Senate.
According to her, “God sustained me for three terms, from the seventh assembly to the eighth assembly and the ninth assembly, and I am still baffled as to how I have been able to continue this journey.”
I even thought at the time, “Let me retire and start dealing with my family. Serving the country requires a lot of sacrifices, and it begins with a sacrifice from your home, your children, even your better half. To be willing to make sacrifices in order to serve the country takes a lot of courage. Nevertheless, being present here is a great honor for all of us.
Former Senate President Lawan thanked his fellow senators for their support while he served as their leader.
The lawmaker recalled the numerous accomplishments made possible by the Senate despite the difficulties and said that this was impossible without their support. He became quite emotional toward the end of his statement.
“I want to thank all of my colleagues for choosing me to be the Senate President. It has been an honor and a privilege for me to participate in this esteemed legislative body and to oversee its operations at such an important time in our history, he said.
Honored coworkers, today marks the end of our stewardship in the 9th Senate. All good things, as the saying goes, must come to an end,” said Lawan.
We leave Nigeria not with regrets but rather with a sense of accomplishment and the knowledge that we did our small part to create a better and more prosperous nation.
Orji Kalu, a former governor of Abia State, was also very emotional during his farewell speech.
He thanked the legislators for supporting him through his difficult times.
“I could buy anything money could buy before I entered politics. I’m not a burglar. My jailers are aware of my motivation. He said, “They took over my businesses and tried to kill me, but I made it through and I’m here with you in the Senate.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where the Abia lawmaker served as governor for two terms, was founded in 1997 and 1998. “I have never lacked, and I later turned into a thief,” the lawmaker from Abia said.
“Transportation money from my home on Victoria Island went to people who later became agents. Nigeria is exemplified by this. For their unwavering support over the past four years, I want to thank my coworkers. This nation is not just.
