During the Eid holiday, 50 fatalities occur in Afghanistan as result of road accidents

During the four-day Eid el Fitr holiday in Afghanistan, a total of 102 road accidents were reported, resulting in the tragic deaths of at least 50 individuals and leaving 185 others injured, as confirmed by the country’s General Directorate of Traffic Police on Monday.

Among the casualties were 8 women and 13 children, highlighting the devastating impact of these accidents on families and communities across the nation.

Provinces such as Herat, Ghazni, and Paktika were identified as hotspots for road accidents, with a significant number of incidents occurring in these regions.

The General Directorate of Traffic Police attributed the high number of accidents to factors such as overspeeding, reckless driving, failure to adhere to traffic regulations, and the absence of proper traffic signals on highways.

These findings underscore the urgent need for enhanced road safety measures and public awareness campaigns to prevent further loss of life on Afghanistan’s roads.
