After she posted a picture of herself over the weekend holding an anti-Israel banner that read “stand with Gaza,” the Israeli education ministry announced that it will take climate activist Greta Thunberg out of the curriculum.
The pro-Palestine post on X, previously Twitter, that Thunberg made over the weekend drew outrage from proponents of Israel. Thunberg was detained at a climate rally in London earlier this week.
As the Israel-Hamas confrontation intensifies and threatens to spill over into a wider battle in the region, Thunberg urged the international community to speak out and demand an immediate ceasefire, justice, and freedom for Palestinians and all affected civilians.

After she publicly supported the Palestinians on Friday, the Israeli military made accusations against the Swedish climate activist and claimed that “genocide” was being committed in Gaza.

Arye Sharuz Shalicar, an Israeli military spokesman, claimed to Politico that Thunberg is “sweeping the terror of the Palestinians or Hamas and Islamic Jihad under the table as if it did not exist” and that “whoever identifies with Greta in any way in the future, in my view, is a terror supporter.”
In a subsequent letter to the website, he expressed regret for his remarks and said: “I spoke out of a deep sense of pain and my words do not reflect my personal views or those of the IDF.”

Thunberg has previously made remarks against Palestine and the Israeli occupation.
In response to a post by Canadian author Naomi Klein labelling the Israeli strikes “war crimes” in the 2021 Gaza War, Thunberg tweeted: “Devastating to follow the developments in Jerusalem and Gaza. #SaveSheikhJarrah”.
To be quite clear, I am not ‘against’ Israel or Palestine, Thunberg wrote in another article. Naturally, I oppose all forms of injustice and violence from all parties. Again, seeing the developments between Israel and Palestine is painful.
