For their alleged involvement in the vandalism of interlocks, armoured cables, metals, and other state government property on the streets of Minna, the Department of State Services, DSS, in Niger State has detained 17 individuals, including a septuagenarian.

While robbing the things last Saturday between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m., the suspects, who range in age from 18 to 70, were caught.
The gang of alleged vandals allegedly transports the stolen goods in over seven different brand names, including tipper trucks, J5, and tricycles, before security personnel catch them.
According to Muktar Danladi, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, who verified the arrests, the defendants had damaged government property meant for the New Niger project’s construction.
Together with the permanent secretary, the commissioner for works and infrastructure denounced the illegal activity and declared that the state government will stop it by creating jobs.
“The state government will not tolerate this,” declared Danladi. There are currently 17 individuals under the DSS’s custody; once the investigation is finished, the police will take custody of them and bring charges against them.
To keep their children from getting involved in activities that could get them into trouble, the SSA asked parents to keep a close watch on their children.
Olabisi Kehinde, the DSS Deputy Director of Operations, told reporters that she does not speak with the media when called and declined to comment.
Following the conclusion of the inquiry, it is anticipated that the suspects will be prosecuted.
