The Department of State Services (DSS) has released the passport of Ajaero, which was previously seized, marking a resolution in the case.

After previously confiscating it, the Department of State Services (DSS) has now given back the passport belonging to Joe Ajaero, President of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

On Tuesday, Ajaero’s passport was freed with the help of Abubakar Marshall from Falana Chambers. Initially retained by the DSS, as per OBASANJONEWS update.

Ajaero has safely received the passport, as confirmed by well-known human rights attorney Femi Falana.

On Monday, the DSS detained Ajaero as he was preparing to embark on official union business travel to the United Kingdom. He remained in custody for more than 15 hours and his passport was confiscated during this time.

The NLC issued a strong caution to the government and demanded that their leader be freed. They also warned that they would take action if their request was not met.

Under increasing pressure, the DSS released Ajaero prior to the expiration of the NLC’s ultimatum and promptly returned his passport on the subsequent day.

The ongoing tension between labor unions and the government is highlighted in this episode, wherein NLC maintains their support towards their president.
