The president of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, had just approved Bawa’s indefinite suspension “to allow for proper investigation into his conduct while in office” when this happened.

The suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa, has been invited by the Department of State Services (DSS).
“Bawa arrived just a short while ago. The invitation relates to some investigative activities involving him, according to a statement released on Wednesday night by Peter Afunanya, the DSS Public Relations Officer.

This change comes after President Bola Tinubu approved Bawa’s indefinite suspension “to allow for proper investigation into his conduct while in office”.

Willie Bassey, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation’s Director of Information, said in a statement that the action was taken in response to “weighty” allegations of abuse of office made against him.

“Mr. Bawa has been directed to immediately handover the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission, who will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation,” the statement read.
