According to the Department of State Services (DSS), it has detained certain Nasarawa State Emergency Management Agency (NASEMA) employees and their associates for allegedly diverting palliative care.
This was said in a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja by the DSS’s public relations officer, Dr. Peter Afunanya.
According to Afunanya, certain states have complained to the service about the diversion and selling of palliatives intended for their residents.
“As a result, the Service launched an inquiry into that matter, recovered some of the items, and also caught the suspects.
The Service, for example, intercepted a suspected criminal organisation in Nasarawa State that was in charge of stealing and selling the palliatives while this operation was still going on in other states.
Officials of the Nasarawa State Emergency Management Agency (NASEMA) and their proxies in the marketplaces, particularly Modern Market Lafia, where the commodities were being resold, are among the suspects, the source added.
According to the DSS spokesman, the suspects have been given over for the necessary disciplinary actions.
He urged members of the public who may have knowledge of the diversion of palliatives to contact the appropriate security services so that appropriate action could be taken. (NAN)
