Aisha Ahmad, a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has not been arrested, according to reports denied by the Department of State Services, or DSS.

According to the DSS, no CBN official—past or present—has been detained in the recent 48 hours.

On Thursday, rumours of Ahmad’s purported arrest spread across the Internet.

The DSS reportedly detained Ahmad due to allegations of fraudulently obtaining shares in Polaris, Titan Trust, and Union banks, according to widely circulated stories that were not from the DAILY POST.

The former deputy governor of CBN was also connected to a $300 million deal that Titan Bank funded to buy Union Bank outright.

Following the suspension and subsequent incarceration of Godwin Emefiele, the former governor of the national bank, CBN and a few of its former senior executives have come under fire.

Due to allegations of financial misconduct during his time working for former President Muhammadu Buhari, he is the subject of an investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

But according to a DSS post on X, “No former or current CBN official has been arrested by the DSS in the last 48 hours.”
