A tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday when a truck driver under the influence crashed into a bus near the Castinjo/Ola bus stop along the Ota-Idiroko Expressway in Ogun State, resulting in the deaths of the bus driver and his assistant.
The spokesperson for the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, revealed this information in an official statement, shedding light on the details of the collision.
The crash, which occurred at approximately 6:48 am, involved a MAN Diesel truck without a license plate and a bus bearing the license plate LND 224 GF, causing a significant disruption to the flow of traffic in the area.
Eyewitnesses reported that the truck, traveling from Ota towards Idiroko, veered out of control due to the driver’s intoxication and excessive speed, leading to a devastating impact with the bus heading in the opposite direction.

Tragically, the bus driver and his assistant lost their lives instantly as a result of the collision, while the intoxicated truck driver and his assistant fled the scene.
Following the incident, the authorities removed the wrecked vehicles from the road to the Onipanu Divisional Police Station in Ota, and the deceased individuals were taken to the Ifo General Hospital Morgue for further procedures, as stated in the official report.
