Driver flees when LASTMA discovers a pistol in the impounded car According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA), its agents found a gun inside a confiscated, unregistered car.

When the driver was seen driving against traffic on the Lagos-Epe highway around Sango-Tedo towards Abijo GRA, the car—a black Honda—was impounded. In a statement on Thursday, Adebayo Taofiq, a spokesman for LASTMA, stated that the driver fled after learning that the officials had spotted the pistol.

According to Taofiq, the divisional police officer (DPO) of the Ilasan police station has been given the unregistered car and the weapons for further investigation.

The representative added that as soon as the owner/driver of the unregistered impounded Honda discovered that the pistol (Pump Action) had been sighted inside his car, he promptly drove off and was no longer traceable.

“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ilasan Police Station had been given the unregistered impounded vehicle (Honda automobile) with the found pistol for further investigations.” Driving the wrong way, often known as one-way driving, is illegal in Lagos and carries a three-year prison sentence as well as the loss of the vehicle.

The Lagos state government held an auction in September for automobiles confiscated for traffic infractions.

Many locals criticized the statute supporting the seizure of automobiles due to traffic offences after the occurrence, which caused controversy. TheCable
