Kenneth Eze, the complainant from Niger, reported the case to the Zuba Police Station on October 6, according to earlier testimony from Mr. Chinedu Ogada, the prosecution’s counsel.
He claimed that the complainant had claimed that the defendant had gone to the Zuba spare parts market on the same day and feigned to purchase a car valued at N1.7 million.
He told the court that the defendant had deceitfully taken the aforementioned automobile key from the complainant while posing as a tester and had then fled to the capital of Oyo State, Ibadan, with it.
The defendant made a confessional statement during the police inquiry, he added, and he escaped with the car without the owner’s permission.
The vehicle was retrieved from the defendant in Ibadan, according to the prosecutor, and it was parked at the police headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan.
According to him, the violations were under the Penal Code’s Sections 312 and 287.
