Ajibola Basiru, an ex-speaker for the Senate, reportedly arrived at the prayer place in Osogbo’s Oke-Baale neighborhood and sat where the governor was supposed to.
On Wednesday, during the Eid el-Kabir prayer site in Osogbo, Osun State, a minor drama took place.
Ajibola Basiru, the former spokesperson for the Nigerian Senate, reportedly arrived at the prayer place in Osogbo’s Oke-Baale neighborhood and allegedly sat in the governor’s designated seat.
When Governor Ademola Adeleke arrived a short while later, attempts to persuade the federal senator to vacate the governor’s designated space allegedly failed.
According to his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, after a tense exchange between supporters, the governor left the area without completing the Eid-el Kabir Two Raka’a and went to his rural residence.
There have been claims of an arrest warrant for Basiru, according to certain media.
After the prayers were finished, the police reportedly sealed the door to the prayer area; however, it was quickly unlocked so that people could leave.
