Morocco’s hopes of securing a place in the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations will have to be put on hold after a 1-1 draw against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Achraf Hakimi gave Morocco an early lead, but Cedric Bakambu missed a penalty for DR Congo before halftime. Silas Katompa Mvumpa, a substitute from VfB Stuttgart, scored the equalizer in the 76th minute.

With four points, Morocco is currently at the top of Group F after defeating Tanzania 3-0 in their first match. DR Congo has two points after drawing 1-1 with Zambia.

Morocco will face Zambia in their final group match, aiming to secure a spot in the knockout stage.
