Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has appealed to the Minister of Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, not to cause political unrest in the state.

Wike had suggested that political instability could be fomented in the state governed by lawmakers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who are allies of Rivers State Governor, Sim Hubara.

Speaking at an Ijaw World Congress reception held in honour of Wike in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Makinde urged the Minister of Capital Territory not to “stoke the fire” in Oyo State.

Makinde commended Wike’s achievements as Rivers State Governor and acknowledged the Minister’s contribution to infrastructure development.

He said: “I came to Oyo to see my brother and the priest today (Nyesom Wike).” When I showed up in Rivers yesterday (Friday), I told him I came with a peace offering because he had bragged about setting fire to some states. I told him not to set fire to Oyo State.

“Let me say this on behalf of the other governors and former governors here, you have done good things for your people. Since I have been here, I have seen the projects that have been done in your eight years as governor.”
