Doguwa Defends Himself Against Abdulmumini, Mentions Kwankwaso
Doguwa defends himself against Abdulmumini’s claims, stating that Kwankwaso was his colleague in the political arena.
Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) and Northern Caucus leader, Alhassan Doguwa, has reacted to comments made by Rep. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa regarding Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Abdulmumini issued a warning to Doguwa during his address to the constituents in Kano on Sunday. The warning was against criticizing Kwankwaso, who is a prominent member of the NNPP and former governor of Kano State. In response, Doguwa quickly dismissed Abdulmumuni’s cautionary words by calling Kwankwaso the “grandfather of insults.” Despite being elected alongside him in 1992, there seems to be no love lost between these two politicians.
During the 3rd Republic, Doguwa displayed his admiration for Kwankwaso as a former colleague in the House and fellow Muslim.
Nevertheless, he found fault with Abdulmumuni for having inadequate understanding of history. He highlighted that both he and Kwankwaso were elected into the House of Representatives before Abdulmumini ventured into politics.
Abdulmumini was challenged by the senior legislator, who is well-known for his vast experience, to show respect towards his established legislative profession.
Doguwa’s response was prompted by Kwankwaso’s recent criticisms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership, including President Bola Tinubu as highlighted.

According to Doguwa, he has a vast legislative background that Hon. Jibrin cannot match as he was still in school when Doguwa began his service at the House of Representatives. Hence, Doguwa believes that given this gap in experience, he deserves respect from Hon. Jibrin just like how Sen.Kwankwaso is respected by him and others.
Kwankwaso was given counsel by Doguwa to refrain from making degrading comments about APC leaders and demonstrate regard towards other political figures. The reason for this advice was a widely circulated video clip in which Kwankwaso insulted Kano’s APC leaders, including Doguwa.
“I called him to order,” stated Doguwa, who has been elected to the House of Representatives on seven occasions since 1992. He emphasized that his constituents have always shown their unwavering support, and he strives every day to represent them with dedication.
He urged Kwankwaso to avoid making inflammatory public statements that could instigate the youth and cause disruption of peace in Kano State.
Kano residents and Nigerians were urged by Doguwa to exercise patience while President Tinubu’s administration devises solutions for the country’s problems. He guaranteed that legislative support would persist in aiding government initiatives aimed at resolving economic concerns.
Doguwa concluded by stating that while acknowledging the challenges encountered by Nigerians, he remained optimistic in the practical initiatives implemented through governing APC policies which will eventually provide solutions. Therefore calling for President Tinubu’s continued support and cooperation towards establishing a transformed Nigerian economy.
