Security operatives in Katsina have arrested a doctor accused of providing medical treatment to notorious bandits, sparking concerns over complicity in criminal activities.
Security forces have arrested Lawan Ado, a medical practitioner from the Safana Local Government Area in Katsina State. He is accused of providing medical treatment to injured bandits, among them the notorious Usman Modi Modi, who has a ₦50 million bounty on his head.
According to a video acquired by security analyst Zagazola Makama, Ado allegedly admitted to providing medical treatment for several injured bandits. He disclosed that the criminals would take him to their hideouts whenever they needed his medical services.
Ado also revealed that his initial encounter with the bandits occurred when he treated Usman Modi Modi, who had been injured by gunfire during a conflict with the Yan Kyanbara vigilante group.
The suspect stated, “Initially, he was taken to a hospital in Taskiya for treatment. Two days later, I was brought in to continue his care and received N18,000 for my services.”
He also confessed to treating other high-profile bandits, such as Mai Kudi, who was shot in Kurfi and paid him N8,000.
He treated Audu, an assistant to Usman Modi Modi, who paid N8,000 as well.
Dogo Mardi, who was injured by gunfire during a robbery attempt, received N11,000.
The suspect also disclosed that he had traveled to various locations to provide medical treatment to bandits, including one known as Karanboguwa and several more individuals.
