Billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates has revealed that divorcing his ex-wife Melinda was his greatest regret, reflecting on their years together and shared philanthropic efforts.

American billionaire Bill Gates has expressed that his greatest regret is divorcing his wife, Melinda, in 2021.

Gate expressed regret over his inability to replicate the 45-year marriage of his parents.

The former Microsoft executive, who is 69 years old, revealed this information during an interview with The Times of London.

When asked if divorce was his only failure in life, Bill replied, “You’d have to place that at the top of the list. There are other failures, but none as significant. The whole divorce situation was miserable for both me and Melinda for at least two years. It’s a mistake I regret the most.”

Melinda and I still keep in touch — with three kids and two grandchildren, there are always family gatherings. The children are thriving and have strong values.

Gates and Melinda initially crossed paths in 1987 when she became a product manager at Microsoft.

They tied the knot in Hawaii in 1994 and later co-founded the nonprofit organization, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, in 2000.

The NGO was dedicated to addressing worldwide poverty and disease.

In May 2024, Melinda stepped down from the foundation.
