The verification of A’level results was implemented due to the prevalent corruption within the system, with the aim of restoring the integrity of the admission process.
Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, emphasized the importance of respecting the certificates held by individuals and highlighted the need to protect the integrity of A’level certificates.
Out of the total number of fake results, 397 were from colleges of education, 453 were from university diplomas, and the remaining were A’level certificates.
The shocking revelations from Bayero University, Kano (BUK), where only six out of 148 Direct Entry applications had genuine certificates, prompted JAMB to convene a meeting of critical stakeholders to address the issue.
As part of the proposed measures, an A’level result verification task force would be established, along with the creation of a common platform for the verification of A’level results and certificates, which is reliable and user-friendly, taking only five minutes to complete.
