Dino Melaye Reveals Why He Declined to Attend Shiloh 2024
Senator Dino Melaye shares his reasons for opting out of Shiloh 2024, sparking discussions about faith, politics, and personal convictions in Nigeria.
Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, has explained why he chose not to attend this year’s Shiloh event organized by the Living Faith Church, commonly referred to as Winners Chapel.
In a post on his verified X account (formerly known as Twitter) on Sunday, Melaye explained that he did not attend the annual convocation of the Winners family worldwide due to Bishop David Abioye’s retirement from the church.
“I chose not to attend Shiloh 2024 because it just doesn’t feel the same without Bishop Abioye. It’s puzzling why Bishop Oyedepo, who is older, continues his ministry while the younger Bishop Abioye is being compelled to retire. This decision seems solely based on Oyedepo’s choice rather than a divine one. We’ll see how things unfold,” he mentioned.
According to reports, Abioye and another senior Bishop of the church, Thomas Aremu, retired from the Living Faith Church in October 2024 at ages 63 and 67 respectively.
The retirements occur after an evaluation of the church’s administrative policy known as The Mandate.
The church has set the retirement age for its leaders at 55.
According to the new policy, only David Oyedepo, the 70-year-old founder of the church, is now permitted to serve for life.
