Jay-Z strongly refutes allegations of assaulting a 13-year-old girl, with Diddy addressing the controversy. Explore the unfolding legal and media reactions.
American rapper Sean Carter, also known as Jay-Z, has responded to a lawsuit alleging that he and disgraced music mogul Sean Combs, also known as Diddy, raped a 13-year-old girl in 2000.
A civil lawsuit alleging statutory rape had been filed against Jay by attorney Tony Buzbee.
In a prompt statement posted on his social media pages Sunday, Jay-Z refuted the allegations and urged Buzbee to file a criminal complaint.
The rapper referred to the allegations as “false and an act of blackmail.”
The statement partially stated: “My attorney received a blackmail attempt, referred to as a demand letter, from an individual claiming to be a lawyer named Tony Buzbee.”
