A DHL cargo plane traveling from Germany to Lithuania crashed early Monday near the airport in Vilnius, the capital city, resulting in one fatality, according to firefighters.
“The plane was scheduled to land at Vilnius airport but crashed a few kilometers away,” said Renatas Pozela, head of the firefighting and emergency services unit, adding that one member out of the four-person crew died.
Under unclear circumstances, a house caught fire as a result of the crash.
Vilmantas Vitkauskas, the director of the National Crisis Management Centre, announced that everyone in the house had been evacuated.
