Despite being disqualified from the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum has showered praise on his players.
Following a 4-2 penalty shootout loss to European champions on Monday morning, the nine-time African champions were eliminated from the competition in the Round of 16.
In the contest, the Super Falcons had the most possession and twice struck the crossbar.
After competing honourably against nations like Canada, Australia, and England, the West Africans left the competition with their heads held high.
Waldrum expressed his pride in his players’ performance against the Three Lionesses following the game.
I’m incredibly pleased of them for coming in and playing the way we did tonight. We had plenty of chances to do the task. Sadly, we weren’t quite able to accomplish it, according to the American, who was quoted by FIFA.com.
We twice struck the crossbar despite having the best opportunities. It’s anyone’s game when penalties are involved.
