Despite Adamu and Omisore’s resignations, the APC insists that there is no crisis in the party
Contrary to misleading notions of a developing crisis, the party stated, “the APC stands as one strong, dynamic, resilient, and progressive Party.”
Despite the resignations of its National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, and National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that the party is not in crisis.
According to APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka’s statement on Saturday, “the APC stands as one strong, dynamic, resilient, and progressive party,” despite indications of a developing crisis.
According to the APC, the resignation of the two leaders demonstrated the party’s institutional maturity and the quality of its leadership, which prioritises the best interests of the party over personal egos and ambitions.
The party further downplayed rumours of discord among members of its National Working Committee (NWC) over a potential successor to Adamu as “purely speculative.”
It further stated that the NWC’s opinion on succession to any empty office will be notified through the NWC’s proper channels.
“Change is constant and unavoidable in the life of any individual or institution.” As Africa’s greatest political party, our demonstrated ability to adapt to change and evolving realities puts us apart and sets us apart from doomsayers.
“We remain committed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda of improving the quality of life for all Nigerians,” the statement continued.
Senator Abubakar Kyari, the APC’s Deputy National Chairman (North), was elected the party’s National Chairman on Monday.
Following a NWC meeting in Abuja, Kyari succeeded Adamu as party chairman.
In a press conference following the NWC meeting, Kyari formally announced Adamu’s and Senator Iyiola Omisore’s resignations as the party’s National Chairman and National Secretary, respectively.
According to Kyari, the APC’s Deputy National Secretary, Festus Fuanter, will function as acting National Secretary in accordance with the party’s constitution.
