Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has urged the people of the southeast to extend their support to President Bola Tinubu’s administration, emphasizing the potential benefits this alliance could bring to the region.

During a southeast stakeholder meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, the deputy speaker highlighted the commitment of the Tinubu government to revitalize the South East.

Kalu mentioned ongoing efforts in the national assembly to establish a new state for the South East and secure the release of IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Furthermore, he pointed out the significant appointments of individuals from the South East by the President as a testament to the APC government’s dedication to inclusivity, urging the people to refrain from any actions that may incite rebellion against the government.

Kalu also emphasized the economic reforms implemented by President Tinubu, such as unifying the FOREX market and channeling resources into key sectors like healthcare, education, and infrastructure, which have bolstered investor confidence and positioned the Nigerian Stock Exchange as a top-performing global exchange.

In terms of national security, Kalu highlighted the investments made to modernize and equip security forces, resulting in the liberation of hostages, neutralization of hostiles, and arrest of terrorists and bandits.

He concluded by affirming the commitment of the National Assembly, under the APC leadership, to utilize legislative measures to reposition the South East and the nation as a whole, including the ongoing efforts to grant an additional state to the South East.
