Only nations that are endowed with outstanding brains can overcome the world’s enormous economic issues. This also calls for unconventional thinking. Therefore, the core of the country’s policies and governance must be fiscal policy and tax changes that ensure a nation’s survival without escalating the economic woes of its citizens.
His Excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has, true to type, put together a cabinet of time-tested, highly qualified technocrats, who are committed and great professionals, whose wealth of experience, Nigeria needs at this crucial point in her life, he said. “Our assignment, I dare say, has been made quite interesting,” he said.
He underlined that the role of the parliamentarians at the retreat is to contribute to the conversation about the necessary fiscal policy and tax reforms towards the realisation of the executive branch’s eight-point plan.
“Therefore, we have an easy job on our hands. In accordance with the ideas of the executive branch of government, we are to identify the policies, reforms, and other economic strategies.
Fortunately, this Senate has access to some of the best minds the country has to offer thanks to our professionalism, talents, and demonstrated skills. Therefore, we are at the retreat to use these characteristics to alter the future for our beloved country,” he stated.
He asserts that this specialised retreat, which NILDS organised in conjunction with the Senate leadership, will undoubtedly provide all senators in Nigeria with cutting-edge knowledge in fiscal policy and tax reform.
