Alwell Asiforo Okere, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) branch in Abia State, has congratulated the state’s citizens on their celebration of Democracy Day this year.
He took great pride in saying that the PDP laid the current democratic basis that the people of Abia are living on.
The PDP, which identified itself as the state’s “shadow government” in Abia, promised to hold the current administration in the state accountable and investigate it thoroughly.
Abraham Amah, the PDP’s Deputy Chairman and Acting Publicity Secretary, stated the party’s viewpoint.
The party claimed with pride that the recent suspension of the Abia state commissioner for health was the result of its demands for openness.

“As a party, we are committed to maintaining accountability and openness in the way government business is conducted.
We reaffirm our commitment to leading a shadow government that will closely monitor the existing administration’s actions and hold them responsible for keeping their word to the people at all times.
“Abia PDP is still committed to serving the good people of Abia State with honesty and integrity. We will not give up on this goal.
“We are prepared to defend the rights of the people and push for a government that puts everyone’s welfare first at all times,” Amah declared.
The PDP promised to criticise everything it felt was improperly done in the state, and it further bragged that it was advancing towards the “promised land.”
