Democracy Day: Nigerian Government Declares June 12 a Public Holiday

The celebration of this year’s Democracy Day has led the Federal Government to declare Wednesday, June 12, as a public holiday.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, conveyed this announcement on behalf of the government and extended congratulations to all Nigerians on this occasion.

In a statement released by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Aishetu Ndayako, the minister emphasized the importance of reflecting on the contributions of Nigeria’s founding fathers and ensuring the unity, security, and indivisibility of the nation.

He urged Nigerians to remain committed to democratic governance and highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to implementing positive reforms for economic revival and enhanced security.

Furthermore, the minister called upon Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to acknowledge the progress that has been achieved and anticipate a brighter future for Nigeria’s democracy.
