Delta Police Nab Six Suspected Kidnappers, Seize N2M Ransom

Delta police have arrested six individuals suspected of kidnapping and recovered over N2 million in ransom, making significant progress in the case.

Six alleged kidnappers have been apprehended by police officers from the Ebrumede Division in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

In addition, they retrieved a sum of N2,344,000 (Two million three hundred and forty-four thousand naira) along with several pilfered mobile phones.

During a press conference held in Asaba, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda revealed this information as the Delta State Commissioner of Police.

Six-passengers were intercepted by operatives of Ebrumede division while on patrol duty, acting based on credible intelligence according to CP Abaniwonda. The passengers were in a tricycle at the time of interception.

Upon sighting the Police, the suspects made an attempt to flee. However, they were pursued and apprehended by the operatives.

After searching the suspects, a total of two million, three hundred and forty-four thousand naira was found.

After apprehending them, authorities recovered a number of phones suspected to have been stolen. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that these devices had in fact belonged to the individuals who were previously kidnapped and held for ransom; additionally, the funds found on their persons were identified as part of said payment made by those victims for their release.
