Due to her nuisance-causing behaviour as a street beggar, the Delta State government has exiled a 32-year-old lady to her home in Anambra.

After being empowered and advised to stop asking for charity, Ogochukwu Nwabud, who had been begging for money in Asaba, received a warning from Ify Obinabo, the state’s commissioner for women’s issues and social welfare.

The returned woman was given empowerment and was handed over to the women’s leader in her community in Nnewi, according to a press statement by the media assistant to the commissioner, Chidinma Ikeanyionwu.

“The Delta State government exiled 32-year-old Ogochukwu Nwabude, a mother of one, to Anambra for causing a nuisance by begging in the aforementioned state.

“Obinabo, who did not spare the returned beggar, disapproved of the behaviour but urged the woman to serve as a change agent by finding a trade to support herself and her kid.

“She (Obinabo) empowered her with a little token to assist her in starting a business of her choice, but she also issued a warning that if she was discovered again, she would be hauled to court and have to face the consequences.

She only indulged in the act for two weeks before being apprehended by the Delta state government and sent back to Anambra, according to the woman, who was quoted by Ikeanyionwu.

She resolved to make good use of her empowerment and to avoid engaging in charity begging.

She was then given to the head of the Uruagu women in Nnewi, who would keep an eye on her development and report back to the government, according to Ikeanyionwu.
