Alhaji Mohammed Badaru, Nigeria’s Minister of joint, advocated for an increase of Nigeria and India’s current joint collaboration on military hardware and training on Wednesday.

Balasubramanian, the High Commissioner of India to Nigeria, was met by Badaru at the Ship House in Abuja.
He claimed that although relations between Nigeria and India were excellent, there was a need to increase defence collaboration between the two nations in terms of both military hardware and training.

The Federal Government, he continued, was prepared to increase defence cooperation with the Government of India, and a joint consultative meeting between Nigeria and India will be held on November 30.
According to Badaru, the meeting will give representatives from the two nations the chance to debate and formalise the proposed collaboration.
Balasubramanian had earlier stated that an existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Defence Cooperation existed between India and Nigeria and that the Government of India will further solidify the connection.
According to the high commissioner, India and the Nigerian Navy worked together to combat piracy in the Gulf of Guinea. (NAN)
