Death of Afonja was unexpected- Gov Seyi

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State expressed his deep sorrow and shock upon learning about the passing of Prince Ajibola Afonja, a former Minister of Labour and Productivity.

In a statement released by Mr Moses, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Print Media, Makinde described Afonja’s death as unexpected and devastating.

Afonja, who was also a former Chairman of First Bank Plc, hailed from Oyo town and passed away at the age of 82 on Sunday night at the University College Hospital in Ibadan.

Makinde paid tribute to Afonja, acknowledging him as an illustrious son of Oyo State who represented and promoted the state with great dedication.

The governor extended his heartfelt condolences to the former minister’s immediate family, the people of Oyo town, and the entire state.

Makinde offered prayers for the peaceful repose of Afonja’s soul and for God’s support to be with his family and the community he left behind.

The governor emphasized that Prince Afonja’s contributions to the growth of Oyo State will always be remembered and appreciated.
